World Steel Association: Global crude steel output at 151.2 million tons in October
On November 25, World Steel Association (WSA) released the global crude steel production in October 2024.The global crude steel production in 71 countries/regions included in the WSA statistics was 151.2 million tons in October 2024, an increase of 0.4% year-on-year.
Crude steel production by region
In October 2024, crude steel production in Africa was 2.0 million tons, down 0.4% year-on-year; crude steel production in Asia and Oceania was 110.3 million tons, up 0.9% year-on-year; crude steel production in the EU (27 countries) was 11.3 million tons, up 5.7% year-on-year; crude steel production in other European countries was 3.4 million tons, down 6.2% year-on-year; crude steel production in the Middle East was 5.0 million tons, up 5.4%; North American crude steel production of 8.8 million tons, down 3.6% year-on-year; Russia and other CIS countries + Ukraine crude steel production of 6.7 million tons, a year-on-year decline of 12.2%; South American crude steel production of 3.8 million tons, an increase of 7.2%.

Top 10 countries in terms of crude steel production
In October 2024, China's crude steel production was 81.88 million tons, up 2.9% year-on-year; India's crude steel production was 12.5 million tons, up 1.7% year-on-year; Japan's crude steel production was 6.9 million tons, down 7.8% year-on-year; the U.S.'s crude steel production was 6.6 million tons, down 2.0% year-on-year; Russia's crude steel production was estimated at 5.6 million tons, down 15.2% year-on-year; and South Korea's crude steel production of 4.5 million tons, down 18.3% year-on-year; Germany's crude steel production of 3.2 million tons, an increase of 14.7% year-on-year; Turkey's crude steel production of 3 million tons, an increase of 0.7% year-on-year; Brazil's crude steel production of 3.1 million tons, an increase of 16.2% year-on-year; Iran's crude steel production of 3.0 million tons, a year-on-year decline of 1.9%.
